Through this work, Viśveśvara has contributed many original thoughts to the field of Sanskrit poetics. He synthesizes all the earlier poetic concepts into a comprehensive scheme of Camatkära. Earlier writers in this field founded their theories on a single poetic concepts like that of Rasa, Guna and Riti.
The Camatkaracandrikä of Višvešvara is an un published treatise on Poetics on the lines of Ekävali and Pratapa rudriya, all the illustrations here being eulogistic of the patron Singa, an Andhra king who ruled from Racakonda during the last quarter of the 14th Century.
There is some confusion with regard to the authorship of the Sangitasudhakara attributed to Singabhupala. This confusion is caused by the presence of two different colophons in the manuscript of the work deposited in the Oriental Library Baroda. The colophon assigns the work to some other person named Gangadhar, patronised by some king other than Singabhopal.
